I am looking for a talented India-based video editor to work with me on an ongoing basis for my educational YouTube channel, Chem Court.
Chem Court creates engaging GCSE/A-Level Chemistry videos for students in the UK and internationally.
The videos are designed to make chemistry visual, understandable, engaging and memorable, rather than simply being traditional classroom-style lectures.
What I need
My typical videos are approximately 7-10 minutes and combine:
The editing style should be clean, modern, colourful and engaging, while still looking professional and educational.
A typical video structure
My videos generally follow:
APPLICATION → CONCEPT → EXAM GUIDANCE
For example, I begin with an interesting real-world application of a chemistry concept that will run in the form of a video or animation at the background, explain the science using a whiteboard and visual animations, and then demonstrate how students can apply the concept to an exam-style question.
I will provide the recorded footage and the educational content. I need the editor to turn this into a polished final YouTube video.
Shorts/Reels
I also want to create one or more Shorts/Reels from each main video.
The Shorts should not simply be cropped versions of the long video.
They should have their own hook and be designed to make students think:
"Wow — I didn't know chemistry could do that!"
For example, a chemistry concept could be presented through a surprising real-world application, visual transformation, experiment or "magical" chemistry moment.
Therefore, experience creating YouTube Shorts/Reels with strong hooks and retention is highly desirable.
Skills I am looking for
Please apply if you have strong experience with:
Experience editing science, education, STEM or teacher-led YouTube channels would be a significant advantage.
You don't need to be a chemistry expert, but you should be comfortable learning scientific concepts and turning them into effective visuals.
What I will provide
I will provide:
I am looking for someone who can eventually understand the style of the channel and work independently rather than requiring detailed instructions for every edit.
Trial project
I would like to start with a small paid trial project.
I will provide approximately 30–60 seconds of raw footage from one of my chemistry videos.
You will be asked to create a short edited sequence showing:
The trial will be paid.
If the trial works well, I would like to develop an ongoing working relationship.
Please include in your application
Most importantly:
Please tell me about one educational or YouTube video that you edited yourself and explain what you did to make it engaging.
Generic applications such as "I am an expert video editor and can do your project perfectly" without examples will not be considered.
I am looking for someone who can become a long-term creative partner for the channel, not just someone who can perform basic video cuts.
Thanks
